Feeding Your House Cats

Remember those nice pictures of kitty slurping up milk from a plate? Don't be fooled into thinking milk is good for the cat. In actual fact cats are not good at digesting milk sugar. So you should restrict the feeding of milk. If you must provide milk to an orphaned kitten, dilute the milk.

Your house cat will need protein-rich food. However, there is a right and a wrong time to give it meat. Just before bedtime is not a good time as during sleep the digestive organs won't perform so well. That's just common sense--it applies to humans too. But cats sleep alot, up to 14 hours a day! So when is the right time? Ah, just feed cats the same two pre-determined times. This way the cat's body clock will go to work at these proper times.

Always leave fresh and clean water at the feeding area. You don't like drinking stale water,do you? So why should your pets be different? Cats on dry food need at least 300 ml of water a day. In dry weather, they need even more.

Feeding your house cats is not complicated at all. It's fun watching them enjoy their meal. Remember to clean their food containers. Always play by common sense. This way your cats and kittens will be healthy and you won't feel guilty about making them sick due to your neglect or indifference.
